A Real Intelligent Designer

by PinPonPun in Atheism, Miscellany

If you’ve ever work in web design, web development, or any service-oriented job you owe it to yourself to check out Clients From Hell. Today I stumbled on this gem at their website:

Client: ”Obviously we need the site to be deeply spiritual. The use of a cross is obvious and although perhaps over-used we would like to go with that… Also perhaps some Saints, figurines… You get the idea?”

Designer: ”Do you have any specific Saint’s in mind?”

Client: ”No, just run with it… after all we all worship the same god right?”

Designer: ”Actually no, I am atheist. Is this a problem?”

Client: ”Oh, erm, you´re one of THEM are you? Hmm that is a problem… people who abandon the word of god are in league with the Devil, and if you designed our site… well, it would make it sinful, a place of deception… No… erm, maybe you would like to discuss your hatred of God? Then perhaps I could convince you of the true path.”

Designer: ”I cannot hate something which does not exist.”

Client: ”I see. No, we need a designer who is…you know, not in league with the devil.”

So anything built by non-believers is “sinful, a place of deception”? If I had to guess, I’d think there have been a least a handful of churches and holy-places built with non-theist hands, or at least by the hands of folks that believe in some other variation of god.

Guess they really are places of deception then…

The Burning Christmas Cross

by PinPonPun in Miscellany, Ponderings, Punditry, Things Atheists Hate

Is it just me or does this “Original Christmas Cross” seem, well, just a little inappropriate?

AFA Burning Christmas Cross

Granted, it is a product of the American Family Association, and organization known for sharing in the idyllic love and peace of Christianity; an organization that is known for its peaceful and loving embrace of all people.

In this year’s annual return of the “War on Christmas” I’m sure that the AFA will gladly send out free Christmas Crosses to those that make its annual “Naughty or Nice?” retailer list!

Targeted Marketing: Atheists’ Air Freshener

by PinPonPun in Atheism, Miscellany

Air Fresheners have long been associated with overriding unpleasant odors with those odors that are much more appealing.  Floral scents, clean linen, musk — all are very popular. Also popular are those fresheners that smell of tasty foods, evoking the pleasant sensations of that food product. Cinnamon, Fruits, Pies — all are common, all are popular.

But what about for Atheists? As is common knowledge, Atheists Eat Babies. It must be true, even the obviously reputable Debunking Atheists speaks to the point.

So where’s our tasty air freshener? Fortunately, the search is over! I have discovered the air freshener specifically marketed to atheists:

Holy Pajamas, Batman!

by PinPonPun in Miscellany, Ponderings

No, seriously – holy pajamas.

So why make children’s pajamas modeled after the Armor of God? Indoctrination, of course.

Although we are a new company, our desire is to grow into a well-known Christian Organization whose main goal is to reach as many children as possible by providing the Word of God, offering top quality products and excellent customer service along with offering parents the means and support to help their children grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

What was it that Dawkins said about religion as child abuse? And maybe it’s just me but if my parents strongly encouraged me to wear armor — complete with helmet! — to bed that would only serve to reinforce the belief that there are, in fact, monsters under the bed or in the closet.

And there there is the bible passage that inspired them:

6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day”? That doesn’t seem like the proper inspiration for pajamas;unless, i guess, you are home-schooled and can wear your PJs all day.
